Knowledge
Search Engine Constructed/
Research Assessment Friendly

This page develops some ideas from Guardian Talk, mostly about Auricle. A problem with using words like 'Mode 1' and 'Mode2' to describe knowledge is that the definition can change. My concern as a practitioner is to claim some validity for knowledge and learning outside an academic context. The area called 'e-learning' is under critique from academics but developing fast anyway.

There will be more about this on the blog and Guardian Talk. This page has a PDF version of talk so far and also a couple of diagrams.

'Research Assessment Friendly' knowledge means text written to be assessed, and 'Search Engine Constructed' knowledge means web pages that appear from problem situations.

The topic on "John Hood - A study in Leadership" is mostly about a specific situation where the critique view on managerialism could be seen as a literature of resistance.

Below is a diagram from "e-Learning Research & Development Roadmap for Ireland"

In my opinion this diagram is likely to make sense to most people.

I can't see how e-learning could possibly be presented as a Mode 1 Subject

More later on 'search constructed knowledge', maybe in the blog
